Debut Novel Now Live!

It’s finally here! After months of swimming in a sea of words, my debut novel, Switching to Light is available to the world. This didn’t come without the hurdles and bumps that I’ve whined endlessly about in my previous posts. Nevertheless, I hit the ‘publish’ button on Amazon among the company of two of my biggest supporters: my little girls.

There have been many surprises along this journey. I have wanted to hold myself back numerous times and not follow through with this dream. What if my first line or first paragraph isn’t enough of a hook? What if there are typos? What if people notice that the house on the cover is crooked?

These thoughts have not only attempted to drag me down, but they wanted to put a stop to this writing nonsense. Letting go of perfection isn’t a strong suit of mine, but this process has forced me to practice.

Finding inspiration to keep going has, well, kept me going! From YouTube pep talks to reading about my favorite authors telling about their own bumpy beginnings, I have realized that I’m not alone. I don’t know about you, but quotes help me through hard times. Here are some recent ones I’ve written down:

  • A professional author is an amateur who didn’t quit. – Richard Bach
  • First you jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down. -Ray Bradbury

Regardless of my perfection-induced anxiety, I’m thrilled to finally begin on this self-publishing journey. Sure, I wrote my first book in August of 2020, but then I was ‘just’ a writer; now, in a night’s time, I’m a published author.

Find my book digitally on Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Google, and many more platforms:

May I simply say what a relief to uncover somebody that really understands what theyre discussing over the internet. You certainly know how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people really need to check this out and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that youre not more popular because you certainly have the gift.
