Finally, a post!

Where have I been? Why haven’t I posted blogs? Am I done with this writing gig yet? Hardly! It’s actually what has kept me from posting more blogs, dedicating the little time that I have to the most important tasks.

It isn’t like I have an endless supply of time. (Does anyone?). Therefore, as is logical, I prioritize what is most important. Right now that’s working on book 2 to meet my publishing goal of April. To put a little less strain on me, I’ve opened up this goal and broadly said I’d like to publish it this spring.

To give an update on this book, I received it back from my editor last week a whole four days early! I’m currently ten chapters into the editing process, scouring for misspelled words, rewriting sentences to bring about crisp scenery, and ensuring that the blue eyes I mentioned on page 10 haven’t changed to brown on page 37.

Last week brought on a sense of overwhelm as I watched the sun drift through the sky and dip below the horizon without me being able to cross any items from my list. Alas, a weekend getaway brought me focused car time where I had to keep my butt in my seat and tackle some writing work. (Obviously, I wasn’t driving, though I have found that transcribing my next book to be ultra-productive! More on that later.).

What I found was that with only two hours of focused time, I was able to blow through a task that I thought would take triple the amount of time. This was a relief and enough to switch my mindset from feeling a bit hopeless when it comes to my tasks, to feeling encouraged and optimistic about achieving my goals.

So, what are said writing goals for this week? Attaining all of these is quite a lofty expectation, but I like to use the ‘brain-dump’ type method of putting it all out there:

  • Edit 1 hour a day most days – This is priority one!
  • Upload to YouTube my unboxing of my new tarot cards video – yes, I’m into this 🙂  (check it out here!)
  • Record chapter 15 of Switching to Light for my YouTube channel
  • Post a blog – woohoo!
  • Figure out how to use Spring to get my logo on t-shirts (more to come on this too!)
  • Re-format book 1 and send it off to be printed

These aren’t to include my other goals for family, work, spiritual (full moon!), and the ever-persistent exercise goals that literally keep me up at night if I don’t meet on a daily basis. Throw in a cold and that’s my week! I hope yours is splendid as we move from the nesting season of winter into a vibrant new spring.
