Hands up if you’ve ever made a mistake! 🖐️ Trust me, both of mine are way up!
I’ve always been open about my self-publishing journey, including the bumps along the way. So here it goes… I messed up my publication date!
I’ve been open and honest about the mistakes I’ve made on my self-publishing journey, and this one has no lack of pain involved. Deep breath, here goes…I messed up on my publication date!
In the past, I’d hit ‘publish’ a few days early, and voilà—the book would be out. But this time, I missed a crucial deadline, and now the paperback version of Welcome to Garden Valley is delayed by four days. 😬 I’d love to blame someone for this error, but this is all me. Some features on the publishing page have changed, and I didn’t understand just how much this would affect me.
Here’s where I went wrong:
- Mistake #1: I set the publication date for August 16th, thinking I was good to go. But I missed the deadline for the final submission. Result? A new release date of August 17th.
- Mistake #2: I tried to fix it and ran into an ISBN issue. An extra word in my Bowker title caused a digital domino effect, pushing the release date even further to August 20th.
I tried everything, including chatting with the super helpful folks at Amazon, but no luck—the paperback release is now set for Tuesday, August 20th.
But hey, silver linings! The eBook is still on track for August 16th, and the paperback will be available at Barnes & Noble. As my husband reminded me, no one was hurt, and I’ve definitely learned my lesson. So here’s to rolling with the punches and growing from our mistakes! 🌱
